For those that know me, natural healing is my passion. So today I want to share with you why I love Turmeric as nutritional supplement, its benefits and ways to use it.
Lets first some background, for those that are new in this journey of natural organic healing.
Turmeric is a bright orange root-like subterranean stem famous for powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial properties. It has been used in Indian and Chinese medicines for centuries to heal wounds, treat skin conditions, inflammations and infections. The plant could reach up to 1 m (3 ft 3 in) tall.
Many high-quality studies show that it has major benefits for your body and brain. Turmeric is hailed for helping a host of conditions: high cholesterol, hay fever, depression, gingivitis, premenstrual syndrome and even hangovers.
Turmeric contains Bioactive compounds with powerful medicinal properties. Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant.
The Benefits for using turmeric.
There is many benefits for turmeric. In Chinese medicine it’s to believe that invigorate the blood and unblocks menstruation. It has a strong effect in dispelling blood stasis and it regulates the flow of Qi by driving it downward. It disperses Qi stagnation. It’s usually combine with cinnamon since these herbs compliment each other very well, Cinnamon is warm and unblock the channels, soothes spasms, facilitation join movement, turmeric is used to break blood stagnation and movement this combination to commonly used for painful obstruction in the upper and lowers limbs. Use for shoulder disorders.
How to prepare fresh turmeric: peel it, grate it, slice it.
To prepare fresh turmeric, grab a vegetable peeler or paring knife and slice off its skin. You can also do this by rubbing the stem down with the back with a spoon. Once you’ve uncovered its colorful, earthy and heady hint of tongue-numbing insides, it’s ready to use as you desire – try it finely sliced or grated (it’s less fibrous than ginger and easier to grate).
There are many ways to prepare turmeric other than just use it as a spice in your food. one of them is “golden milk” which it’s known in the western now and its very popular and easy to prepare.
The ingredients as I mention earlier are all natural antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, warming to the body and great digestive help.
